The white-label experience provided by TourBuzz has always been one of our most popular features. Photographers love that we help you establish your brand rather than forcing you to promote ours.
Today we are expanding our white-label support even further by adding the ability to attach custom domain names to customers and tours. This is a huge benefit for agents and brokers that are trying to unify their brand experience across all channels. Most tour providers just don't have this capability.
Custom Customer Domains
By attaching a domain name to one or more customers, you get three major benefits:
Custom Tour Domains
Many of you are up-selling individual domain names like 123MainStreet.com that go straight to a particular tour. Until now, you've had to do this using domain name forwarding or masking, neither of which are ideal. With our new custom tour domains, you can simply CNAME any domain to tour.tourbuzz.net, add the domain name to the tour in TourBuzz, and the tour will display right on the http://123MainStreet.com URL.
MLS/IDX Compatibility
As you know, MLS systems do not allow any agent-specific contact information in the MLS, including in the URL of tour links. This can make custom domain names very complicated to deal with since you have multiple links depending on where the tour is being used.
Fortunately, we've found a way to eliminate any hassle with juggling domains. When you enter a domain into our system, you can indicate whether that domain name is MLS/IDX compatible. We use that information when generating the branded and unbranded links for tours, and we will automatically use a related MLS/IDX-compatible domain name for unbranded links.
In practice, this means that if you have an agent-branded URL attached to a customer record, we will use your photography-company domain (our tourbuzz.net if you don't have one set up yet) for unbranded links. If you attach an MLS/IDX-compatible property-specific domain to a tour, then we would use that instead of the agent-branded domain for that tour's unbranded link.
Note that the links sent to Realtor.com/Picturepath will always use the domain name for the account, since Picturepath allows only one domain name per account.
Custom Branding for Custom Domain Name
Domain names attached at the Customer or Account level will show a list of relevant tours when you visit the base domain, like http://JoesRealEstatePhotography.com. Until today, we showed simply only your logo and company name on a plain white page.
With today's release comes the ability to enter custom HTML and CSS for any domain, allowing you to make your TourBuzz-hosted tour search page blend seamlessly with your main web site.
NOTE: we have moved the login link to the *bottom* of the page for white label templates so as to not confuse users of the site.
Pricing
I'm sure this will be your favorite part! We have decided to make custom domain names available as part of the core TourBuzz tour package at no additional charge.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't charge for it! This feature is so valuable and unique that you may find you can charge for it by default, and discount it to help land business.
Comment by Jennai Patterson on October 14, 2011 at 11:50pm Probably a stupid question, but will this affect the ability to add the tours to Realtor.com? I hope not as this seems like a GREAT feature!!!!
Comment by TourBuzz Support on October 15, 2011 at 12:08am The new feature does affect Realtor.com somewhat, in that if you do set a custom URL, it would use that.
WE might need to change that to always use the provider URL for Realtor.com, I will have to think about that.
Other than that it doesn't affect it at all.
