Pricng Srategies for "Do it Yourself" Tours

I have heavy competition from Tour Factory (TF) in my area (Charlotte NC). TF has a "do it yourself" option where the agent can use their own images to build the tour. TF charges a monthly fee to host the tours. They have a "special" running now that allows unlimited tour hosting for $30.00/mth.

I am slowly but surely convincing agents to switch by showing them the superior TB viewer and giving them better tour syndication than TF (the factor agents seem to care about most). I have found that most agents prefer me to handle everything possible for them, so I set up Postlet accounts for them that I manage. I use CLBot software to post craigslist ads using Postlet HTML code. I can demonstrate that I offer them more syndicaton sites than TF does by using these methods.

I am running into agents who want to use my hosting solution using images they provide themselves. Has anyone dealt with this issue already? Is it possible to let the agents put the tour together themselves as TF does? If not, how are you pricing the service of assembling the tour & hosting it?

Thanks for any ideas you might have!

I feel your pain Cal,

I have only done 2 "slideshows for Customers who provided their own imaging. I charged them both $39.00 for the tour setup and also sold them "extra syndication" for $40. (i.e. Blogging, Networking, Bookmarking and AD creation for Craigslist/Corkin) I also made it a point that we do not edit other photographers work... "EVER". Editing someone else's work is never a good idea.

I now do all of their photography for both of these customers, because I showed them the benefit of using a Professional. Be certain to have them look at your work and compare it to their own. (in a very nice and accurate way of course) If you have to, and you're sure you'll get allot of work from this client in the future, offer to shoot a property over for them--one time, for the cost of Lunch. (Make sure they go with you)

Hopefully this has helped,
