Announcing the beta release of our new Tour Editor!

We are happy to announce the first beta release of our new Tour Builder! Here's a quick glance of the new interface; read on below for the details.

At TourBuzz, our goal is to give you the tools to do your job as fast as possible, saving you time (and money) that you can use to grow your business or even take some extra time away from your camera and computer! We celebrated our 5th birthday a few months ago, and our original tour builder platform was getting a little long in the tooth. We've also learned a ton about how you build tours and how you use our system. We've rolled all of that knowledge, along with a healthy dose of modern web technologies to bring you a brand new tour interface!

First of all, please note that the new tour builder is *live* and will edit your tour! So while we do encourage you to try it out, please note that it will update your tour as you use it.

It's also worth noting that this is the first beta. We have a bunch of improvements already in the works, but we wanted to get the core of it out the door ASAP so that you can start using it and sharing your feedback.

One of the major design goals of the new tour builder is to make setting up the tour much more fun & interactive. The tour is really a creative product, so we wanted to let you focus on the output rather than the tool.

Major improvements:

  • Changes to the tour auto-save - there are no more save buttons! Next to the green View Tour button is the saving/saved indicator.
  • In the Tour view, updates are applied in near-real time; as soon as a change is made the tour will re-load with the new settings. This makes it fun and easy to preview/tweak the tour!
  • The thumbnail grid view now supports multiple selection, making it easy to drag multiple images from disparate places into a new position.
  • Quickly rename images in the grid view.
  • Quickly edit image settings in the media details view.
  • Use the thumbnail size slider to easily scale the image sizes as appropriate for the task at hand (small for re-arranging, large for naming, etc).
  • Overall it's much easier to use and more pleasant to look at!
  • The client center has been slightly improved and branded to your company.

Altogether, these improvements should save serious time off of your production workflow, and there's even more improvements coming in the future.

Roadmap

Here's what's in the plan for the next few months, in planned order:

  • Allowing this editor to be used from the Client Panel.
  • Enabling a true "login" for your customers to view / edit all of their tours.
  • Ability to create a new tour with the new tour builder.
  • Ability to delete images.
  • Ability to upload images directly in the builder (and let you work on the images immediately!)
  • Ability to edit more design and tour settings, including colors and fonts.
  • Do-it-yourself tour editor (optional) if you want to let your customers use the platform for tours they shoot themselves.
  • Do-it-yourself iOS app.

I just tried it out on two tours tonight and love the look and feel. It was so nice to be able to view all of the photos on one screen. Moving photos was much easier.

Question: Will we be able to upload the photos right into that new tour builder down the road?

Question: Will we be able to edit the panos in there too? Sometimes I like to have my partial panos move from right to left instead.

Thank you for these great improvements. I look forward to the future updates.

Hi Carol,

Thanks. Yes. You will be able to do both of those things in the new editor. Our goal is to make every option in TourBuzz more discoverable and easy to use.

Please let us know anything that will make creating tours faster.

Thanks

Looking good. How do you delete an image? Can't seem to find a delete option.

Deleting is phase 2. There will be an X in the upper corner of the images.

Please don't leave out your Canadian clients. Would be nice not to have Canadian Provinces considered as "states". Could you call that line states/provinces? Also, Alberta is spelled wrong in the drop down. Thanks!

Carsten- we will get the international addresses improved. Thanks for pointing it out!

I like the new interface but I should have waited, I guess.  Once I used it to organize the photos, I can't use the old interface to edit the photos.  In the past, I have always gone to each and every photo to review the panning sets and adjusted them. Now I can't get in to do that.   What do I do now?  Start over??  =:O   I look forward to using it when it's all done testing!

Cathy- Using the new interface shouldn't have any impact on your ability to use the old interface. If you are having issues, please send an email to support explaining your issue and we will be help you out!

Hmmm... as Emily Latella used to say, "Uh, nevermind."  Now it appears that I can do it.  Or did you go in and tweak something?  :)

Nope, we didn't do a thing! Glad it's working for you now.
