QR Codes... What they are, and a few things that they can do for Real Estate!

This is a Blog post that I wrote, but thought that I'd share it with all of you as well....

QR Codes??  Most of us have seen them, but just think that they're just strange designs on shirts, business cards, signs and web pages.  They actually contain information that we all can use for a multitude of purposes.

A "QR" code (Quick Response) is a two-dimensional code that can be scanned by a smart phone camera and direct you to a Website, written message, photo, video and anything else that you may find on the web.

In Japan, they are everywhere, and while they are just starting to become popular here in the states... They will soon be making a statement in everything that we see.  (In a very literal sense)

For Real Estate and Business Professionals, the uses are endless!  We will soon be rolling this out with our business, what about you?

Here are a couple of examples:

Place one inside your logo and direct people to your Website

Use on Signs and Riders and direct people to the Virtual Tour or Listing

Put them on T-Shirts and Clothing, it's a great conversation starter

Promotional Materials - Place on items people will use every day

Other examples might be Business Cards, or Vehicle logos... Some retail stores are even using them as a perk for customers who take the time to view them on a storefront to get a discount for goods!

Let's face it most people want information "NOW", and having to type in a web address takes time.   This will soon be a staple in American life and the possibilities are endless.  Don't let technology just wiz by, and make your business practices outdated in a short period of time... Embrace it as much as you can.

What other things can you think of that they would work well with?

Thanks and Happy Marketing!

By the way, One of the best scanning apps that I've found for Droid is called QuickMark. For i-phone, QR app is getting decent reviews, although I haven't used it yet.
Thanks for the post, Nathan!

I have actually started adding QR Code support to TourBuzz already. I have it almost done, but since no one actually uses them yet I haven't bothered to finish it!

The QR Codes will be visible in 2 places:
1) The Flyer
2) The "Client Panel" for the tour, where large/small QR Codes can be downloaded for custom integration by the customer.

Is this something you think you'd use? Is it something that you would upsell to your clients?
I just saw this QR code for the first time today while editing a tour. I immediately download the "Barcode Scanner" app for my Droid and, voila, I was hooked! I started scanning everything I could find on my shelves. What a great application to add to a paper flyer. Finally, some function on that form! I'm going to start adding those to the flyers for my clients, for a small fee, of course.

How much of that do we get ;)

Enjoy!
Awesome! Glad you like it.

I am really excited to see how agents respond to all the new QR Codes we're throwing at the and looking forward to evaluating some stats in a month or so.

Please update me on how your customers feel about QR Codes when you get some feedback.
