I'm interested in how other deliver their photos to their clients.  I'm looking for a simple method where I 1) upload the photos to some sharing service and 2) notify my client(s) their photos are ready and 3) my clients can download the photos without the need to log in or create an account.  As long as they have, say, a link they can download the images.

Thanks,

Kent

I found my answer so no need to answer.  I found out downloads of original size are allowed if I allow it.

We are looking to add a print-quality file size very soon. We are trying to be sure the file size is going to work for everyone.

Would 300dpi @ 8.5" x 11" be better, or 11" x 14"? That's 2550x3300 or 3300x4200.

Basically we'd end up with a fit-to-box for 3300x3300 or 4200x4200. I just want to be sure that this is a big enough file, but also not too big. I am not sure what all limits are out there in the print systems that might cause trouble base on max/min file size (MB) and max/min image resolution.

Did I miss something.... is this for a flyer... or to download the tour images...  Most cameras shoot 4x6 ratio and I'm sure most load their photos that way.  Anything 3000 pixels wide and over would be great... so i guess to accommodate the portrait shots.

I vote 4200x4200 but this will get quite a large image.

I checked Smugmug sizes in their help section that might help in determining the size/pixels.  The following is if you order a print from my account through one of their print houses.  So would these settings also not apply to what you are asking?

read "Recommended settings", below.

I use Dropbox.  You zip the pictures, upload to dropbox, and send the client a link.  I copy the link into the email that gets sent when I publish a tour.  So they have a choice to download mls/small print size from the Tourbuzz client panel link, or the High Res from the dropbox link.  However, if they could download the High Res from Tourbuzz/client panel, it would save a little time for me.

Some people have difficulty working with zip files, so I have to walk them through it.

We talked to several customers today and came up with an idea that I wanted to share more broadly:

  1. When you upload images to TourBuzz, for any images bigger than 2000x1333, we will keep the image you upload (or at least 4000x4000) for 30 days after the tour publishes.
  2. The larger image format (if provided) will appear on the Client Panel as "print" download links on the individual media items. We are not sure whether it makes sense to include them in the "media kit" since in most cases people use 1-10 "print" images but having all images in print size would make the media kit quite large...
  3. We will have a cascading preference for letting people access the "print-quality" image; this gives you flexibility to charge for print-quality and easily control this.
  4. After 30 days the "print" link will simply disappear.

This seems like it will cover 95% of the cases where customers want print-quality images of the tour. For the handful of cases where people need super-large images, or need them more than 30 days after tour publishing, that could be handled manually.

We would love to hear your thoughts on this concept.

Alan

That's a great idea!!!   Looking forward to seeing this implemented!

Mike

Sounds great to me!

Michelle

Alan,

Great idea. So, would one just upload the photos they know will be for printing at the larger size and just upload the rest the regular size for the tour?

Has the size changed to 2000x1333. I am still uploading still images that are closer to 1500 x 1000?
